How to Bulk List Products on Shopify from 1688 and Alibaba

Most sellers who source from 1688 or Alibaba hit the same wall: the marketplace listing has everything you need — photos, specs, MOQ, price breaks — but none of it is in a shape your store can use. A Chinese title doesn't become an English one by copying it. A supplier's spec table doesn't become a Shopify variant grid on its own. So the work becomes manual: open the listing, translate by hand or through a browser plugin, rewrite the title, guess at a category, download images one at a time, and repeat for every SKU.
For 10 products, that's a slow afternoon. For 300, it's a job someone has to be hired to do. This is what the process looks like once it's automated instead.
Start from the link, not the spreadsheet
A 1688 or Alibaba product page is already structured data — it just isn't structured the way your store needs. Pasting the URL is enough to pull the title, images, price tiers, MOQ, variant options and the supplier's own specification table intact, with the source link kept against every row. Nothing here is invented; if the supplier didn't list a material or a weight, that field stays empty rather than getting filled with a guess.
This works the same way whether you're pasting one link or three hundred, one per line. The batch runs together, which matters more than it sounds — sourcing 300 products one tab at a time is where most sellers give up before they even get to translation.
Translation that survives a second read
Machine-translated Chinese product copy has a specific failure mode: it's technically readable but reads like a machine wrote it — repeated words, material names that don't match how English buyers search, spec tables where "�芯" survives untranslated because nobody checked. A single translation pass catches most of a listing. What it misses — a variant name, a leftover character in a spec row — needs a second pass specifically looking for what the first one missed, not just running the same pass twice.
Titles, descriptions, materials, spec labels and variant names all go through this, so what reaches the sheet reads like it was written for your store, not translated for it.
Decide before you list, not after you've paid for stock
The part that's easy to skip when you're moving fast: is this product actually worth importing? A landed-cost figure — the supplier price plus freight, customs duty and GST — compared against what it's already selling for tells you the real margin before you commit to a MOQ. Pair that with how saturated the category already looks and whether the timing suits the product (a monsoon-season umbrella listed in November is a different bet than one listed in June), and you get a verdict instead of a hunch: import, hold, or skip.
This step is the one manual sourcing workflows almost never include, because doing the duty math by hand for every product in a 200-item batch isn't realistic. Automated, it costs nothing extra per product.
From sheet to storefront
Once a batch is translated and scored, it exports as a structured bulk-listing Excel — one row per product or per variant, landed cost and margin columns included — or pushes straight to a live Shopify store. WordPress/WooCommerce and a direct feed to your own site work the same way. What doesn't change is the source link and the original images staying attached to every row, so if a listing needs a second look later, there's no digging back through browser history to find where it came from.
What this actually saves
Not time in the abstract — specific, countable hours. A seller doing this by hand typically spends 10–20 minutes per product across translation, image handling and formatting. At 200 products, that's 30–65 hours of work compressed into the time it takes to paste 200 links and review the output. The review step doesn't disappear — a human should still look at what came back — but reviewing is a fraction of the time that producing it from scratch takes.
